Highland Exploration Loch Cruises are the perfect way to experience Loch Rannoch, a mysterious and stunningly beautiful loch with a rich history of clans, cattle rustling, crofting and Jacobites. The loch and the surrounding area are habitat to a rich variety of wildlife including Scottish red deer, osprey, golden eagles, red squirrels and the rare Arctic charr.
From our boat cruises you’ll have breathtaking views of some of Scotland’s best-loved munros, including Schiehallion, the “Fairy Hill of the Caledonians”.
Everyone, from young kids to the young-at-heart, will enjoy the delights of a Highland Exploration Loch Rannoch Cruise.
Our Loch Rannoch cruise boat is the ultra-modern, custom-built Raineach. She’s a cabin RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) which means she’s built for speed as well as comfort. Raineach is 8.4 metres long and can seat 9 passengers – of all ages – in comfort, warmth and safety. Binoculars are provided in our vehicles for every passenger.
Starting from Kinloch Rannoch Marina, we’ll travel west across the loch, passing the settlements of Carie, Camghouran and Finnart. We’ll make some stops on the loch to give you a chance to take in the beautiful views, take (more) photos and hear tales of olden times. It’s the perfect way to see the loch from a unique viewpoint.
Our local and experienced skipper and guide, Duncan Richardson, has in-depth knowledge of Loch Rannoch’s wildlife and history – he’ll regale you with tales of the people that lived around the loch through the years, and point out some of our beautiful native species.
- views of Schiehallion

We’ll cruise at a leisurely pace to see all the sights, then you’ll get the chance to experience the RIB at speed, before stopping still for a few moments to appreciate the loch’s tranquillity, its size and its depth. Then it’s back to cruising along and relaxing as you glide past some of Scotland’s most wonderful scenery.
