Highland Exploration is based in the beautiful Perthshire village of Kinloch Rannoch. It’s about two hours’ drive from Glasgow, Edinburgh or Dundee, about 1 hour 15 minutes from Perth and about 40 minutes from Aberfeldy or Pitlochry. There are regular trains to Rannoch Station, which is about 17 miles from the village, as well as regular buses and coaches.
If you’re driving from the south, take the A9 northwards from Perth. After you pass the exit to Pitlochry, turn left onto the B8019 signposted to Loch Tummel, Tummel Bridge and Kinloch Rannoch.
If you’re driving from the north of Scotland, come south on the A9 and take a right-hand turn for Calvine, then right again and head for Kinloch Rannoch.
The Glasgow-Mallaig train (one of the most beautiful train journeys in the UK) stops at Rannoch, and there are regular trains to and from Pitlochry. From Rannoch Station you can use the Demand Responsive Transport Service (DRT) but please note you must book in advance.
There are sleeper services from London Euston to Rannoch or to nearby Pitlochry.
Check the Scotrail website for more information and for tickets.
There are regular coach services to Pitlochry and you can get local buses or pick up a hire car from there.
